Thibaud is an internationally renowned orchestra conductor, suddenly knocked sideways by the news that he has leukaemia and that his only real chance of survival is a bone-marrow transfusion from a close relative. When his sister is tested he gets, perhaps, an even bigger shock: she is not related to him biologically. His mother admits that she adopted him but never saw any need to tell him so; also that he had a brother, whom she might also have adopted, but she felt she couldn't cope with two small boys.

So, he tracks down Jimmy, who lives in a small industrial town near Lille. The factory that gave work to most of the town has recently closed and Jimmy earns 11 euro an hour serving in a school canteen. He is not at all happy to learn that he has a brother but the two get to know each other and start to bond. Jimmy is also musical: he has perfect pitch and plays the trombone in the town's marching band and Thibaud begins to see a way to help the townsfolk. But is he giving his brother unrealistic expectations of what he might yet achieve in life? And is that fair?

There is much to like, but the film errs too much towards sentimentality for my taste.
