I enjoyed this a whole lot more than I was expecting.

Renee Zellweiger is back as dippy Bridget, widowed four years ago and with two young children. How should she get over her grief and get back to life? Can she?

It’s theoretically a comedy - and there are quite a lot of laughs, largely whenever Hugh Grant is on screen - but really it is about grief and a bit about friendship. I wept several times. Yet it’s not mawkish.

The leads are very strong and there is a bit part for almost every current British actor - and the whole cast who did the first films seem to have returned.

I really enjoyed it - an ace Saturday night movie and doing good business at ActOne - lovely to be in a really crowded cinema.
