| Frank and Maddy are woken in the middle of the night by a phone call from student daughter Alice who had been with them earlier that night but, after a row, had taken Frank's car and driven off. Now she's calling to say that she has hit a girl who ran out into the road in front of her and fears she is dead. Frank and Maddy jump into Maddy's car and set off to drive the 40 miles to help. Maddy, a paramedic, is clearly a proponent of tough love whereas Frank will do anything for his little princess, including wanting to claim that he was the one driving the car when the accident occurred. While they're on the phone to Alice, another couple arrive at the scene. The woman seems initially kind before things take a sinister turn. The ending feels loopy but mostly the short -- 80-minute -- film is very tense and probably not good for your blood pressure. I guess it's a film about parenthood and how easy it is to get it wrong. |
