Charlie is a CIA cryptographer who is a backroom expert at CIA HQ. After the death of his wife as a hostage during an attack in London, he wants revenge against the 4 killers who using his IT skills he identifies, but his CIA bosses don’t.

The story quickly becomes a very formulaic high tech espionage revenge film, where Charlie (played by Rami Malek, known for his Oscar winning portrayal of Freddie Mercury) learns he may not be an assassin but instead uses his high-tech skills to end most of the killers. Zipping around the world over two hours (Paris, Marseilles, Istanbul, Madrid, Romania and Russia) the series of set-ups just get more boring and unbelievable.

I suspect my disappointment was given Malek’s prior performance as a computer hacker in “Mr Robot” and the film’s director is James Hawes, UK director of TV espionage series “Slow Horses”, my expectations were higher.
