I must try to see it somewhere.Degaulle hated the fact that he was excluded from the 'top table' with Churchill,Eisenhower and Stalin and the fact that he was not made aware of D-Day until the 4th of June, which was only a day before when the landings were originally planned to happen. He also hated what the Royal Navy were ordered to do at Mers-el-Khabir,where after trying to persuade the 6 most  modern warships from the French Fleet to either join us or be given safe harbour in the West Indies for the duration.Churchill ordered the Royal Navy to open fire  on those ships, resulting in two being sunk and a couple more damaged and the death of around 1200 French sailors. It was a controversial move(still is),but it was just after Dunkirk and Churchill wanted to demonstrate to the USA and the rest of the world that we were still in the fight, and that those French ships would likely result in the death of allied personnel later in the war if they were not dealt with.We had evacuated 135,000 French soldiers at Dunkirk, although why we bothered is a mystery as all but about 4000  of them volunteered to go straight back a few months later.DeGaulle famously said 'Non,Non,Non.'to Britain's entry to the EU,twice n the 60's and once in the 70's.When we left, they hated to see us go.
