This is a little English film and also a tour de force for Ian Mckellan.
It’s directed by Steven Soderbergh.

The adult children of a very old artist want to make money after his death by hiring a college contemporary at Art School to forge a series of unfinished works “the Christophers”. There’s clearly a back story to the pictures and why the forget agrees to do it… or not.

Ian McKellan is really quite moving as the irascible artist and has most of the best lines.Michaela Coel holds her own as the forger. And James Corden plays the son.

The set is absolutely brilliant and makes a huge contribution.

It’s funny, interesting about the art world and surprisingly moving.

I enjoyed it.
