Topic: The Death of Robin Hood

1247, an aged Robin debunks all those romantic tales you heard as a child. The outlaw stole from poor as well as rich and kept it for himself. He also killed not just bad guys but sometimes for the fun of it. Sometimes the children and grandchildren of his victims turn up, seeking revenge, but they're no match for him, even in old age.

Little John finds him, but he goes by Edward now, having killed a man and stolen his identity and farm. But now someone has stolen the farm from him and he needs Robin's help. The ensuing battle is long and bloody and a badly wounded Robin winds up at a priory on an island under the care of Sister Brigid, a skilled healer. Little John's young daughter Margaret soon arrives too, too traumatised at first to speak.

The Priory is a sort of idyll where the sick women and children live productive and healthy lives. As he heals, Robin is given work to do.

The film took a while to get going, for me: the first 40 minutes are non-stop action but it takes off on the island where Medieval life seems less nasty, brutish and short.
