If you read your earlier post, Clare, you will see that YOU began to talk about human rights violations committed "in the name of" atheism. In order to compare just how violent Christianity has been when compared to atheism, I obviously had to use the same criterion. So we should only look at Christianity "before kings and princes and political machinations got a hold of the idea that this religion could be useful"? Presumably popes would also fall within this category, including those who launched numerous crusades and pogroms, killing hundreds of thousands of Muslims and Jews? It is an interesting if convenient view, but not one that sits well with the Catholic faith. Instead, the myth of a early period when all Christians were good and equal, following in the steps of the peace-loving Jesus, sits better with C14 heretical beliefs. "When Adam delved, and Eve span, who was then the gentleman?" |
