I think that the problem has its roots in two issues: multiculturalism, and to the sheer volume of muslim immigration (the latter would not be possible unless the elite believed in the former). The problem with multiculturalism is the idea that all "cultures" (whatever that may mean) have the same value and have the right to be treated in the same way. This will inevitably lead to conflict, because it is out of line with human (and indeed animal) nature. In the past, aliens had to adapt to take on most of the traits of the dominant culture, but could maintain some differences. As a result, any who "got a foothold on power" (and many did) had lost any radical traits that their fathers might have had. The same thing is true in islamic countries, many of which have immigrant christian minorities. I see nothing wrong with muslim immigration so long as numbers are kept low enough to facilitate assimilation, and so long as muslims understand that society is based on christian values. |
