I have read the many comments with interest. The two local mosques seem to differ quite dramatically. The mosque next to the Claire Inn appears to be very peaceful whereas the other on Church Road seems to be intent on doing as they please regardless of local people and of legal authority. The latter, are known to be abusive, and they have upset many people, locally. As for P.C., there is a tendency by local authorities to be wary of tackling the Muslim community as they fear a backlash from Muslim legal groups and fears of being labeled racist. It is time that local authorities treated all races equally, and if any group steps out of line with matters that require local authority intervention, that, that group is treated as any other would be. It is a problem that all local authorities need to face up to, yet sadly, many fail to do so. I read the comments of John Pollastrani with interest, and suggest that if he is interested in finding out more about the Muslim faith, and that applies to others, also, that Paltalk.com, which is totally free, have some very interesting debates on this subject and may well give some of you a better insight into what is truly happening within that faith. As for extremist groups, I am quite sure that if any of the two Mosques fall into that category, that they will be known to the security services. In response to the remark of "Kaffir", all non believers of the Muslim faith are called "Kaffir" which is a very degrogatory term and one that should be termed a racist remark. Many groups canvas for membership, and many do it in differing ways, and i have noticed the Muslim stall outside the Oaks, and i am surprised that the wording on the banner round the trestle has not caused offence to some religous faiths. As with all religious faiths, they should be allowed to practice their religion without fear or predjudice, but their activities must fall within the law. |
