That there are many among the greats of history who are descended from groups of comparatively recent immigrants. Some, but not all of those groups had radical or dissenting elements at the time, or elements which might be hostile to the dominant culture, bur which did not in the event persist in the immigrant population. For instance, Huguenots, Walloons, Irish, Scots (rapine and pillage, Mr Broon?), and Russian Jews. |
