One thing I have noticed more and more is the pressure the LTN has put on Spencer Road, especially since the council put a camera up in Acacia Road. I walk down Spencer Road every day taking my kids to and from Derwentwater Primary School. As Spencer Road is the first access to the LTN it seems constantly blocked up, often with cars having to reverse when they can't get past each other. What this has meant is parents and primary.nursery aged kids (year 5-6 kids (aged 9-10) can walk home alone) trying to cross an increasingly dangerous road past stressed out drivers who are often reversing towards them. We used to go in the back gate in Newburgh but the pollution meant walking along Horn Lane one step further than necessary was not a sensible option. Newburgh is also now a rat run as cars try to avoid the terrible Churchfield Road/Horn Lane junction. |
