Now that the barrier in Goldsmith Avenue has been locked, our street (Goldsmith Road) is starting to feel like a residential street again - it is bliss! We have had an awful problem with rat-running and have heard from various delivery drivers that their sat navs are guiding them from the A40 directly through poets corner; which has hugely added to the problem of commuters having used this route as well. It is also starting to have an impact on the congestion at the train barrier and pollution is reducing - hurrah! It is no doubt more inconvenient to drive round via Horn Lane (not a residential road) if I want to get home, but it gives me great joy to know that I am not disturbing my neighbours in Acacia Road, Baldwin Gardens, Goldsmith Avenue and St/Dunstans Avenue any longer. Us who have been most affected by the previous rat-running are no doubt very grateful for these measurements and are hoping for them to be made permanent. |
