I think Lorna, one of the anti-LTN leaders in Ealing was on this. The Times was here yesterday - with a snapper - and the piece is due to run on Saturday (maybe!) I was amazed how many different people came out to talk to the journalist after just one WhatsApp message - and with such a variety of reasons to oppose the North of Churchfield Road LTN. There was one - not young and gammy hip - who can't get to the Churchfield Road shops any more and so is shopping elsewhere, a wheelchair-user in his adapted car whose life is much inhibited, a child-minder going out of business because her clients can't get to drop off their children, the pregnant mum who keeps having her ubers for hospital appointments not turn up, the carpenter who can't get to jobs, the chap whose car was bashed by a lorry failing get round a sharp corner on the only way out, the woman whose very sick and disabled husband is having prescription and transport problems, the florist who can't transport her wares. Plus me and my nightmare time trying to look after my mum. And I didnt hear any of them. Nor did I call the blue-light fire-engine which turned opportunely and struggled with the padlocked gate. Luckily it wasn't an emergency. So the delay didn't matter. |
