Hi Serena, you note Only a few people use the cut though. How do you know? I live on Acacia and I can only anecdotally contest your statement. If you have facts and figures for this please share. It may change my mind, I am currently very much in favour of this scheme. To me the scheme stops the vale-horn lane cut through and i struggle to believe it is only a few cars (again only anecdotal evidence), we used to have cars all the way down Cumberland at rush hour. Besides, if it is only a few cars, surely it won’t make a difference on horn lane. the main issue to me is the speed by which the phv and delivery cans travelled through poets corner. We have had a number of near misses. The scheme is intended (as per the Ealing council notice) to stop the rat race through the area and I am (anecdotally only) starting to see this. It is lovely (ignoring the moronic driving on pavements to get through the barriers on acacia!) and peaceful. Yes horn lane (which I use daily) is busy, but if this stops 15% of traffic to the area (as the council claim) I think we shouldn’t dismiss the scheme. Try and consider alternatives, say extending the one way system north of Shakespeare road, and put the barriers mid way between acacia and churchfield. Consultation period is on, so do feed back to the council. |
