I find the assumption that those of us opposed to this particular LTN (not even all of them, and certainly not any designed with some consideration for local residents) must be car-mad anti-green, anti-cyclists, rather insulting. I have got rid of one car, swapped the other for a hybrid and cycle and walk almost everywhere practical. But this LTN wholly disrupts my support of my 89 year old disabled mother and life.. Today I took a boot full of contributions to the West London asylum-seeker drop in. It is due south. If the LTN was fully operational, I would have to drive due north, west down Grafton, South down Horn Lane, through Acton to Hammersmith. How much further? How much more congestion and pollution? On Saturday I need to deliver my mothers groceries and pick her up, brining her back to my house for the day: north up Goldsmith, west along Grafton South down Horn Lane, through Acton to Hammersmith. How much further? How much more congestion and pollution? And then return with her. And then take her back. Same on Sunday - picking her up for a pedicure. On Monday I have to pick her up for a hair-cut. On Tuesday, for a flu-jab. This LTN is directly discriminatory against the disabled and against their carers, by extension. But of course no councillor will even reply to an enquiry about that, let alone provide a disability impact statement from before the decision to implement. Which means the LTN is almost certainly illegal. |
