It's sad to say, but wherever you go, you are bound to find people like this woman; people who do not go out of their way to adapt to a changing society, but expect everyone else to do just that for them. If all the Muslims, Poles and others in Acton only lived and worked amongst themselves, people like Ms. Kelly would be in uproar about how they are creating "ghettoes", but then when they live and work "in the open," she moans about being "ostracised." You can't win. And no, "we are not all reluctant racists," Ms. Kelly, it's just YOU. It seems she has a problem with people just being people; if there is a large number of people of a certain ethnicity in a place, it's only natural for them to open businesses selling the foods, etc. that they are more familiar with. What will happen when she arrives in her new home town and finds a lot of "these people " there, too...? If she had any sense, she would do like everyone else and enjoy the experience; I'm sure she would if she went abroad. But stop- what am I saying, she isn't the kind to travel, is she...? In conclusion, I have to say I'm surprised that such a piece was published in the Telegraph. |
