I would be surprised if you are getting 100Mbps (MegaBITS per second) already, the superfast BT Infinity offers around 40 to 50Mbps unless you sign up for the even higher (and more expensive) 80Mbps.
One BYTE comprises 8 binary BITS, and a large number of BYTES are sent as a block so as to reduce the additional data overhead.
I am about 1 mile from the exchange and could get up to about 14Mbps under good conditions, so I am signed up to a 12Mbps maximum, which gets me about 1.2 MegaBYTES per second.
