Did you get it sorted in the end? I do not have a BT Home Hub, but a quick Google search found the following reference:
http://www.filesaveas.com/hubhelp.html
which appears to explain how to set up your connection without having to install all the rest of the BT junk and receive all the advertising. Perhaps I should try to learn a bit about setting up M$ wireless (it appears to be almost done for you in Linux)
