So you have a year or two to notify all friends that your email address is about to change. First choose and register your own domain name, it costs about 5 to 15 pounds for up to 2 years depending on the provider, then everything addressed to your new domain name can be re-directed to your current ISP. I was connected via demon internet, but the company went downhill as it was sold twice, so chrisbell.org.uk is now registered to me personally, and I am able to choose another provider if I wish. I can build my own website and I can decide how to handle and route any_user_names@chrisbell.org.uk

Note that if you choose a supplier based outside the UK then your connection is governed by the regulations that apply in every country your data passes through. Let me know if you need further help.
