If the wireless link is the problem, try changing the channel frequency. The setting should be somewhere in the modem setup. That frequency band is a free-for-all, including Bluetooth, microwave ovens, wireless TV cameras, etc., so you might have to experiment a bit to find the channel that has least interference.
