The main problem with AHS is that the figures are flawed. My son is there so I know it. There is a huge proportion of children who don't speak English, or are children of refugees with huge problems, etc, etc. Most of the children in my son's class seem to be Polish now, for example and are learning English. This means the school is never going to look "good" in league tables and should not be judged by results. However, despite its wonderful modern building and resources, the fact is that the teachers are very stretched dealing with the social and other problems and despite all their promised about effective communication, monitoring of progress, etc, they only pay lip service to this. I think the new head is out of her depth and from what I have heard, she is not well respected by the staff, unlike their previous head who was in charge in the old building when they had their outstanding Ofsted report. Nuff said. |
