If children had to go to their local school there would more focus on raising the standards. I teach in quite a few schools in West and North London what marks out the better performing ones is that teachers are allowed to teach i.e. there is good discipline in the school( i do not mean corporal punishment) but there are systems in place that make sure the children are there to learn and not disrupt. What we should demand is that we fix what we have and not introduce yet another educational experiment. Toby should get his hands dirty and find out more about the local schools and make a proposal about those. |
