I agree wholeheartedly with Andy. If I look back at the teachers that I have had, both bad and good, the bad ones have been the faddish products of TTCs, while the good ones did their own thing. As to what has been said about faith schools, I am one of those who have attended one. It wasn't difficult to get it - I just had to go to church, and agree to prepare for my communion. I think that not all faith schools are the same - Catholicism crept into history lessons in mine, but never went further than that. Overall, I feel that people spend too much time slagging off traditional institutions like faith schools and grammars for dogmatic reasons, without really analysing why such schools succeed. |
