Dear Angela & Objectors to the proposed demolitions, etc I was wondering if there are any usable covenants on the proposed development land - for instance against buildings of a certain height or against shops, etc. I believe that there are a number of adjacent houses which are not owned by the developers, Catalyst Housing Association Limited (formerly "Acton Housing Association Limited" *) and if there are any covenants, we can check if any other landowners can possibly enforce them. *I once assisted the former Chairman of the Association, who lived in Ealing and did not want a homeless hostel in the road (now a Conservation Area). I am currently attending the 5th day of the CPO Hearings re. land in and around the Cinema opposite the Ealing Town Hall. The proposals by Land Securities (who are seeking to oust Empire Cinemas) are much larger than the original ones and frankly, they are a disgrace and would result in devastating effects on residential and commercial properties in the area containing magificent Conservation Area properties dating from the 1870s and 1900s (including the YMCA Building - which is to be demolished). The LBE Planners seem to have turned a blind eye to all this (truly making a mockery of Conservation and Heritage Local and National Policies), as there are obviously millions of pounds to be made by a small group of businessmen well known to the Council. Objectors are due to speak at the Hearing in a couple of days' time. As soon as the Hearing is completed, I would like to meet local Acton objectors and look at any planning documents and leasehold and freehold land deeds relating to the Friary Park Estate. The triangle of green space is I understand "Highway Land" and therefore subject to public access. Not far away, I did assist residents of Fells Haugh/Springfield Court and also the firm Teevans to defeat 8 planning applications both at the Car Wash land in front of Teevans at 219 Horn Lane and at Fells Haugh/Springfield Court itself. What seems extraordinary is that sound housing of attractive dark red brick is all being mercilessly destroyed and people are being uprooted and evicted from their homes of over two decades, I believe. These Housing Associations appear perhaps to be getting too big for their boots. |
