Thanks for your efforts and updates, Chris and Sanya. My husband went along to the meeting 10 days ago as well. We too had no idea there were towers of 14, 13, 12 and 10 stories. The 20 storey tower is definitely smoke and mirrors exercise to detract from the other monsters on site. My husband said they used the excuse that towers were built in North Acton, as you've said. Let's be clear about this - North Acton is and was, essentially, an industrial site. There are very few low level houses in that area for those towers overlook. The area around Friary Park is a residential area. Our home would be dwarfed by these buildings and privacy a thing of the past. The grassy "triangle" north of the site Catalyst mention is not a grassy patch of land but a mini-park to the area, available to all of us, not just those on the Friary Park estate. As for sectioning off a sympathetic triangular piece to face that mini-park - too little as a compensation, thank you, (get your own green space, do not pinch ours!) and in no way compensates for the lack of green space in their proposals. Furthermore, if they section off that area off (it becomes theirs rather than for everyone, surely) and close the small slip road.....where on earth is that traffic going to go? It may be a "small slip road" to them, but it is a major road through Central Acton to Horn Lane and the A40, so no thank you! I've written to Daniel Crawford and the 2 other Councillors for Acton Central. Daniel has replied and will engage with Catalyst with residents' views, so please do email him and the other 2 with your views. There is no Residents' Association in our area. We need one. I would love to be more active, but cannot be without forfeiting sleep time. Is there anyone out there who would be willing and able to form a RA for us? I would be an active member, of course, and do what I can. I do not, however, have the time to set-up the association, unfortunately. Anyone? |
