I am lost for words. I've seen the proposal. Are they for real? This has to be a joke....this is the 21st century and it's been proven that tower blocks do not build communities. I don't give a hoot that tower blocks are common in North Acton....all the more reason to have one less! I have applied to join CAN. I have emailed Catalyst with a complaint. I have emailed Catalyst to ask to attend their 4 Workshops on this matter. I urge others to do the same. What else can we do? I am happy to chain myself to the railings to stop this happening, seriously. Feel very strongly about it. It's a new-ish estate, crime has reduced, measures have been taken to put right those aspects residents have complained about and they are, I'm told, much happier living there. It's a money making exercise which pays no attention to the residents' needs. The "brochure" I saw was vague - lots of unspeak, non-specifics. One of the sentences is "Residents have expressed low levels of satisfaction with their homes on Friary Park and most of the issues that they are dissatisfied with cannot be addressed by refurbishing the existing buildings". Really? Talk about vague. "Low levels of satisfaction"? That's not exactly saying "we're really dissatisfied and unhappy" is it. What specifically are those low levels of satisfaction regarding and how can't they be addressed, other than knocking the whole area flat and erecting shed loads of homes? Additionally, Catalyst state they will "design the new area to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour". Crime is already down. How specifically are they going to do this? Where are our Ealing Borough Councillors on this one? I see they haven't posted. I miss Vlod Barchuk. Worth his weight in gold. Vlod, if you're reading this, what are your thoughts please? Anyone want to join me in chaining myself to the railway line there? |
