Dear Ian, congratulations on your son's success. I couldn't be more delighted. Wish him well for me. As you guessed, I don't need to be told your background. Old nursery workshop and woodcraft folk acquaintance here. The Prosecco remarks were a tease, prompted by a widely quoted newspaper joke, intended to point out that the term middle class no longer defines people as easily as when we were growing up. Sorry you didn't get it. To regularly use it as a term of contempt on these threads does cause me to weigh in. I wish you, Jim and Colin would realise that many parents will not join the discussion because they don't want to be rediculed or insulted by you guys. They are quietly waiting to see if the school will open in 2011 and then simply bang in an application. Ian, thank you for your invitation to take tea. I will take you up on it. Remember the Woodcraft code and 'cry peace to all', even distant relatives of royalty. Jim, who cares what class you are. Come join us in declaring ourselves members of the upper classes if you like. Best wishes to all. |
