Does anyone have the source for 'a new primary being Catholic'? I do not agree with faith schools full stop, despite my sisters daughters at one of the few Jewish schools. As an ex govenor of a small but perfectly formed primary in LBHF I have sympathy with the Derwentwater parents in wanting to hang on to the status quo. My old school had the space to build extra space to ensure viability, and are about to repeat the exercise. External play space will be fine but hall and other shared space will be under pressure. However, as in Social Housing, there is often a conflict between those who are benefiting and those who need to benefit (Educational Nimbyism). If I had a 4 year old and lived in Poets Corner what would I want? So I can appreciate both sides of this argument. There will be a solution dictated by local politics (see Vlod's contribution) rather than common sense. |
