Hi Tania, I agree negotiations should have happened earlier but there were obstacles in the way. There is a formal process that has to be followed regarding academisation and also Ark was not the only issue in the ballot paper so the strikes were not just due to Ark. The NEU reps and Ark have had two meetings and they must have been positive enough to reassure the teachers and staff. The result was no more strikes. Hopefully, discussions will continue to be constructive. I hope stability at the school is reinforced now, especially for the Yrs 11, 12 and 13 pupils who are now in the middle of their exams. Come September, it should be a fresh start for everyone remaining at the school and as a community, we need to give it our support. It has the potential of being a great school. It has a strong SLT in place, bright and lively pupils and some fantastic teachers. Parents now also need to do their bit and I hope they will engage fully with the new behaviour policies of the school. |
