What I am enraged at is that kids are going home reeling because of a teacher's own fears, pumped up by their own Union. NEU oppose classroom observations of teaching, but how does one improve the quality of teaching and support its teachers to their full potential as motivational leaders, without observations I ask? While the NEU interpret this as monitoring and shaming, there is a proven good track record of observation and support on the overall quality of education as per Doug Lemov’s evidence-based new approach to teaching https://www.theguardian.com/education/2015/mar/11/revolution-changing-way-your-child-taught The fact that the ARK has taken this on board and have had Doug come to offer them observations, training and workshops speaks volumes about Ark's investment in their own staff and the children's futures -- http://arkonline.org/news/doug-lemov-humility-and-strength-are-core-leadership Education is not a political issue. We should all just be focused on good education, regardless of our politics. If we come together, we can be a much stronger force and can influence the changes that will take place at Acton High. To all those who care about their community in Acton, please support the parents who are so deeply invested in a better school for the whole community and don't be fooled by propaganda by Union members drumming up their own support! |
