| Firstly, really impressed with many of the contributions to this thread. The school ultimately has a bright future if it has parents who care so much about it. The observation I would make is that in the several decades I have lived in the area there has been a steady decline in the number of my neighbours who send their children to AHS. This is particularly surprising in the case of those who attended it themselves. The school has lost the confidence of quite a large part of the community and that needs to be changed. Whether adacademisation is the right or wrong answer is something on which I am not qualified to comment on but not even the NEU are disputing it is the only option on the table. The issue is really over Ark's suitability. To the best of my knowledge the primary schools that they run in Acton have been well received by parents and the secondary schools in other areas appear to be making progress. It doesn't really seem credible that another 'more suitable' multi-academy trust will come forward to take over AHS. |
