I would advise against jumping to conclusion. My sense is that the Council want to get the situation sorted quickly and have brokered meetings with the NEU and Ark. Rupa spoke very well last night and stated that she had had contact with many parents who either opposed the strikes or supported Ark coming in or both. She also clearly told everyone that the strike wasn’t going to change anything and that they need to sit down tomorrow and resolve the situation for the benefit of pupils. She couldn’t have been clearer but I’m not sure the union reps will take notice. As I said last night I feel they are running an ill judged politically motivated action that goes against the vast majority of parents at the school. I support teachers, am generally against academisation and am passionate about education for all but this is the wrong campaign here where there is no choice but to get an academy in, as Rupa, stated. There are, and have been for some time, major issues with behaviour and attainment at the school and it now needs someone to come in and fix it. If the teacher are really motivated to the educational and academic aspirations of the pupils they have to see that change is needed and fast. No one is saying that teachers are not hard working but the school needs leadership. |
