| This film has been dividing opinion. If you're expecting a cute romcom, then you'll be disappointed. It looks like that for the first 15-20 minutes as Charlie and Emma prepare for their elaborate wedding in Cambridge Mass. We're talking a humourless choreographer for the first dance and extensive tastings of food and wine. But during a wine tasting with their best friends, Mike and Rachel, they fall into a game of 'What's the worst thing you've ever done?' As Emma's reply shocks the other three to the core, the film turns very dark in a heartbeat. Charlie gradually begins to unravel. With the wedding literally a few days away, family flying in from all over, can he go through with it? Can he call it off at this late stage? Some people find Emma's revelation too disturbing and tasteless but the film takes it seriously, not trivialising it. I really enjoyed it. Robert Pattinson and Zendaya are perfectly cast as the couple. |
