| I understood this Icelandic film to be about a family navigating the breakdown of a marriage but it's a lot stranger than that implies. Yes, Anna (an artist) and Maggi (a fisherman) have separated at her insistence but he's still around all the time for their teenage daughter (seemingly the only grown up in the film) and twin sons. They live by the coast in what is clearly a remote part of Iceland. We meet almost no other characters. The pace is languorous, with sudden bursts of surrealism that don't really gel. Nothing much happens... Can't really recommend. |
