| This just won the Oscar for best documentary and can be found on iPlayer as it is a BBC Storyville film. Pasha is a school events organiser and videographer in a small Russian town - the most polluted in the world with a life expectancy of only about 38. And that’s before the invasion of Ukraine, which helps no-one’s life expectancy. He documents and records the growing militarisation in the school - and the conscription - while opposing all of it. Until he himself has to flee. It’s brave and thoughtful, if not revelatory. I’m quite surprised it beat Hind Rajab in some ways - less gripping but more authentic, I suppose. |
