What intrigues me is that, as a society, we frequently condemn the idea that those who commit crimes might escape punishment by exploiting some legal loophole, but when it comes to the laws regarding motoring, such loopholes are sought - and celebrated - by the public at large. I also have a slight niggle about the amount of public money expended where people who know perfectly well that they parked illegally pursue the case in the hope that the authorities fail to prove it or don't turn up. How is it that people view motoring offences differently on their moral compasses? The sheer number of drivers, I suppose... |
