This may be my favourite film of the year so far. It’s a fairly slight story about two women who get married on the same auspicious day in the traditional garb of central India. Then they get mixed up and lost on their journeys to their new husbands families and villages. They are two very different women with wholly different expectations and inclinations. Will they find their ways back or on? It’s funny and poignant and very Indian, with much of it shot on real trains and stations. The characters are beautifully developed even/especially the minor ones. The feminist take is clear but hardly any of the men are villains and spoke surprising ones turn out to be allies. If you can find it, do try and watch: it’s wholly delightful. Streamed on Netflix but I don’t know about cinema release.
