A trip down memory lane for 60s/70s music fans, especially of the Rolling Stones. The life story of Anita is told in this film with the help of her two children with Keith Richards (both are interviewed in the film) making available home videos and photos plus an unpublished autobiography she wrote before her death but told nobody about.

Read by Scarlett Johansson, the voice over extracts read and the interviews with people who were close across her life reveal is a woman who was more in control of her life from early on than most of the history written about her to date recalls. Sadly that free and tough spirit with all the drug aspects that the late 60s/70s and the Stones especially revelled in, came with a price.

What makes the film really work in capturing the lady's allure and lifestyle are the extensive voice over comments by Keith Richards. His comments on their history and life together come across as largely honest and not self serving, in the admissions on his part as to why it happened and did not work ultimately.

Life after the Stones has a few surprises such as  I did not know Kate Moss and Anita were so close in more recent years with Moss seeing her as a mentor and model for her own life. Sadly no reference to her allotment in Dukes Meadows or the clip from "Absolutely Fabulous" but an illuminating documentary for those with any interest in the lady's life in and out from the Stones.
