| The response from my friend at the Gambling Authority is some help but requires serious lobbying of Ealing before the licence is granted: "The decision on licensing is entirely up to the local authority, some of whom are terribly lax on this. We have recently been pushing LAs to make sure that premises are actually intended for use –and used – for their ‘primary purpose’, as it is a problem that businesses claim to be one thing, but are another just so they can have more machines. I’d lobby your LA like hell on this one, at least to make sure there are sufficient conditions in any licence to make them stick to Bingo as primary purpose." So it's getting conditions on the licence that seems to be the critical thing. As it's delegated, there won't even be an opportunity to address the planning committee so the response forms are even more important. I wonder if our councillors are interested. |
