| I briefly looked at the planning application, which is put forward by a company called 'Ablethird Ltd.' If you do a google search on this company, it does, indeed seem to be a gaming and amusement arcade company. I haven't read through everything completely, so do not know how up to date the details are. I found this document from 2007: http://images.kingston.gov.uk/images_dellstore/AP/0714811/Image_62.pdf which is interesting, especially section 3. I'm not sure how it relates to the Acton proposal. I think this application raises a number of questions and issues about the 'regneration' of an area. Yes, we want empty shops to be rented and supply local residents with services. But is it gambling shops (bingo or otherwise) that we really need? I've lost count how many betting shops we've got in Acton. And there is already one 'amusement arcade' on the high street, although I admit it is unobtrusive and I've never seen anyone go in or out of it. I really wonder if the Council's planning and regeneration departments meet to discuss applications? I think Patrick is right and this application should be scrutinized. Over to you good people of Acton. |
