The ECHR was set up in the 50s. A lot has changed since then and the whole system needs reviewing to bring it up to date for this day and age. You cannot say 2012 has much in common socially with 1950 yet we refuse to change the ECHR to deal with the situation. It needs amending to fit 2012 to avoid abuses of the system. Is it right that a person who enters the UK illegally and then kills somebody is allowed to stay because he has put down roots here and therefore has a right to a family life? What about the right of the family of the person he killed? What's Liberty's stance on that one I wonder? Side with the killer perhaps? |
