Thanks for responding Toby, I guess the Bryony Centre was not suitable as a replacement for Cambridge Grove for other reasons, hence the plan to demolish and rebuild. Not sure schools of that age meet modern needs but presume you have to make compromises. Where will your sixth form be if not at Pallingswick? Latymer at a guess? Ditto your sports facilities? How long will your temp occupation at the Bryony be? 2012, 2013, 2014? Will you be honest with prospective parents as to the likely timescale? Attacking Den Charman and Christine Blower might rebound on you. Their children went to the same primary in LBHF as mine and then (from memory) Holland Park. My boys also went 'out of borough' to Acton HS (we lived right on the border at the time within LBHF). Quite normal for parents to consider all secondary schools in neighbouring boroughs given the few secondaries in LBHF and short travelling times. Den has been a special needs teacher for many years within the borough, latterly funnily enough at Cambridge Grove and is highly respected for his work as well as his role within the local union, he is also a genuinely nice guy. I doubt he will respond to your slurs in the Mail and on your website.....hence this comment in his support. Christine is also well respected within the local teaching community. Great thing about some unions is how you can go from a local member to General Secretary..... Not that you would know much about that with your talk of Trots and Communists. One final point, Palingswick used to be a school.......many generations ago, are you sure it will be fit for 21st century use, compared to modern schools, like Acton High for example? |
