| I can confirm that the person who lives at the address mentioned in Birkbeck Road is well known to the police. Both my partner and I agreed that it was our responsibility to report him last year to the police after the second time he damaged our vehicle. He was prosecuted and given a conditional discharge. Within his conditional discharge period we had to call the police because he had started tampering with our vehicle again. It took 4 telephone calls to 999 and one hour later for two WPC's attended. My partner tried to inform one of the WPC that this man was breaking the terms of his conditional discharge. My partner was totally bemused when the police officer said to the man " come on (name) stop being a naughty boy". My partner showed the police officer where he had spat on our car asking her if she required this as evidence. The officer was indignant and said "No"! My partner then asked if they were going to arrest him. The officer rebuked my partner by "saying NO he will be sectioned". We were not sure whether this had happened, so again we had to do sentry duty, checking that he was not around tampering with our vehicle. He has been seen by several of my neighbours in the street urinating, spitting and damaging vehicles. We were also informed that on one occasion he was seen grabbing one young lady by the throat, I dread to think what could have happened if some of our local men had not run to her aid. We tried to report this to the police but because we were told that the young lady was too frightened to report it, nothing could be done. I fully understand and accept that there are people in our midst that have mental issues. However, when their behaviour affects our everyday life something should be done. Whilst we do not wish to have this person pilloried, I am sure that you will agree with me, for evil to proceed good men do nothing. |
