I have just had the same letter and it does indeed say "when your permit is due for renewal you will be issued with a permit just for zone K1." Surely our esteemed editor is right and that can't just be done by whim. I remember when there was the consultation, there was no suggestion of splitting zones or of us having no access to the rest of K. Yeah - local government ombudsman here we come...at least I do wonder if this is the sort of row the local conservative party - who after all control the council - really needs in an election year. Anyhow, the moral dilemma is this: I certainly didn't pay £45 for each car in this round - at least I did but they sent the cheque back. But the letter doesn't say it's for this time and honestly I have no idea what I paid last time though think it was probably the lower amount. Plus we have two cars. So the one sum of money I can't possibly be rightly sent is £20...it's either £40 for just last year or nothing because I paid the right amount last time and know I did this time. So what do I do - wait for the incredibly efficient people in Ealing Parking to read this and ask for the money back? Send them the cheque back explaining in words of one syllable that I am not eligible? Ask for the other £20? Leave well alone and assume that it amounts to a token payment for all the grief that they have put me through in renewing the permit? Advice please |
