History. Some 4 years ago only Goldsmith Avenue up to Baldwyn Gardens was included in the all day K parking zone - £45 per year - and I seem to remember that the signage said that. Those living at the top end of Goldsmith Avenue asked that they be included in the K £45 per year parking zone as displacement parking was taking place (ie, those at the bottom end of Goldsmith Avenue were parking in our 'free' end - all very irritating). Residents were consulted and by a narrow majority the Council agreed to add the non parking zone bit of Goldsmith Avenue to the rest of the Goldsmith Avenue K parking zone £45 per year. Thus making the whole of Goldsmith Avenue into a K parking zone. (Grafton Road residents were consulted at the time, but they did not want to be included in the K parking zone.) For some reason when the application forms for a parking permit arrived through our doors they were for the shorter period of non-parking, ie, £25 per year in a NEW ZONE K1. We all paid up and received our permits. My undertstanding at the time was that those at the bottom end of Goldsmith Avenue were still to be included in the longer K £45 per year parking zone, than we were at the top end of Goldsmith Avenue ie, a new K1 zone. The reasoning being that those in the K zone being nearer to the station, which caused the parking problem in the first place, had more of a problem and needed the all day parking restrictions. The confusion I think has been caused by the signage which has been placed incorrectly and the creation of a new K1 parking zone. This can be confirmed by looking back at the notices which would have been placed in the newspapers at the time (seeking objections to the new K1 scheme). Did anyone keep copies of these notices - which may clarify where the error occurred. |
