Update Needless to say, Ealing Council didn’t phone today over this issue as promised. So I phoned them when I got home. They now say that they invented Zone K1 due to residents’ pressure at some point last year and that indeed the charge is £25. Before that, they say, Zone K1 was part of Zone K and so last year, everybody had to pay £45, that Zone K1 is new and therefore the £25 charge is new. As a resident, this apparent pressure and creation of this Zone K1 is news to me. I do not recall ever being consulted. Who brought thisthis pressure to bear leading to the creation of Zone K1? The Council also says that residents in Zone K1 cannot park in the rest of Acton, only the very few streets that comprise this Zone. See the map link here: http://tinyurl.com/yd42vu9 People in Zone K1 should be careful. Anyone who parks in Acton outside the narrow confines of these streets will be getting a parking ticket. The Council has as yet no explanation of how they are going to sort out the letters that they sent to Zone K1 residents demanding £45 and how people who have paid this are going to get their money back. I asked the Council this: 1. What date last year was Zone K1 created and why? 2. How many people in Zone K1 have paid them £45 at their request when in fact the charge is £25? Answer came there none. Perhaps the Acton & Ealing Gazette can get more sense out of them because I find that dealing with Ealing Council over this issue is analogous to getting blood out of a recalcitrant stone. Jane |
