No notes but I recall a re-consultation of people in zone K as to whether we wanted shorter hours - I think at the time the zone was increased in size. The majority in some roads - but not in the core poets corner roads of Milton, Shakespeare etc - voted for shorter hours - not because of the lower fee of which I am not sure residents were aware - but because they were only concerned about all-day parking by those using Acton Central station and shorter hours would deal with that while being as undisruptive to those living round here as possible. The council decided to split the zone along the lines of the all-dayers and the two-hoursers. It works quite well at two hours a day. If Poet's Corner would only move to that too, local Churchfield Road businesses would be hugely helped yet driving commuters would still be kept at bay. The Ward Forum voted on a re-consultation on that basis at pretty much its first meeting. Nothing has happened. |
