Well, as someone who lives on Horn Lane, a 10-20 year wait for everyone to have electric cars isn't much help. Traffic levels are down now because fewer people are going to work, but it has been notably worse in the past week. It has also created more traffic by increasing hot spots on Horn Lane and Churchfield Road. Simple trips, such as from my home to Acton Cricket Club, now take at least 15 minutes, forcing my into the never-ending traffic jam towards the Morrison's roundabout, rather than 5 and are about a mile longer. The bottom line is this is just a cash grab by the council. They saw the chance to get some Government money and thought great, with no care of pollution levels on Horn Lane, which were already among the highest in London. Why? Well it keeps some council staff employed for starters. That they have turned the wealthiest properties in Acton into a de facto gated community probably suits them too. |
