This is something Steve Flynn at Acton Forum organised. Bob Gurd filled us in on the pretty long drawn-out mechanics - could take 6 months to get up and running. Long term theoretically it could be an ideal vehicle, tho some are justifiably sceptical on the return for hours put in. I wrote to Steve and Rachel afterwards suggesting that as a naissant Neighbourhood Plan it might be a valid pressure group on the decision making process even though it hasn't jumped through all the hoops. Meanwhile for the Oaks some of us are talking about an action/working group set up. One major immediate urgent concern is the number of people who are unaware of the whole scheme, so any ideas at all for increasing awareness are big on the agenda. Local celebrities? Ealing Gazette are interested in doing another piece and I've written to Angie Bray, as have a few others. I've written remonstrating to the planners again about the holiday timing and suggesting a further extension even beyond Sara's, especially as she says, as Steve Austin is away until 23rd Aug anyway. While he's away he has redirected mail to PlanningEast@ealing.gov.uk. The planning committee site meeting is sometime in September, not sure when. |
